How often should I have my tank cleaned?

We recommend every 3 years as a general rule. This can vary from home to home. Larger families, garbage disposals, and other factors can cause solids in the tank to build up faster, requiring more frequent cleaning.

Should I use additives and chemicals in my tank?

The short answer is no. These do little to benefit the septic tank process of breaking down the solids and can actually be a hindrance.

Are garbage disposals a good idea to install/and or use?

Garbage disposals, when abused, can lead to excessive inorganic build up. When items are flushed through the disposal, such as vegetable scraps, they do not break down. This may necessitate more frequent cleanings.  They are not recommended.
